The emotional inventiveness never flags, yet this is robust and gratifying music making that surely will appeal to lovers of improvisation, instrumental sounds and state of the art piano and keyboard playing.
Comparisons are not really appropriate - this album stands alone in its beauty - but perhaps those familiar with Jon Balke's ecm recordings will sense what part of the world we are in. Essential!

Dear listener,

Here - Beyond The Infinite celebrates the fact that on September 23rd, 2020 I played piano solo improvisations in Temppeliaukio Church for the 500th time.
When I started out in November 2002 I couldn’t have imagined that almost twenty years later these spontaneous little performances of mine would have turned into one of the cornerstones of my artistic career. I have had the opportunity to play in this magnificent and wondrous space of Temppeliaukio Church for thousands of visitor from all around the world.

In spring 2020, however, the church remained empty due to the pandemic that had struck the world. I continued playing my weekly concerts and live-streamed them out into the world via social media. The response was overwhelming. I would never have guessed that these fifteen ‘Empty Church Concerts’ would be watched and listened to by over half a million people worldwide. I feel very fortunate and I am deeply grateful!

After recording the 11th ‘Empty Church Concert’ in May I decided to fulfil a longtime dream of mine and add various classic synthesizers to this live recording in the studio. These were sounds I remembered from my youth and which I have loved ever since, sounds that had a significant impact on my musical taste and creativity.
Here - Beyond The Infinite is the kind of soundscape I used to hear in my dreams at night when I was a little boy. Then, I always hoped that one day I would be able to create something like this myself in real life.
